AL Player of the Week: Sim 2

Monday, April 21st, 1980: At the age of 26, Denny Walling might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Minnesota third baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .389 batting average. For his efforts Walling collected the American Player of the Week Award.

He racked up 14 hits in 36 at-bats, 5 home runs and 20 RBIs last week in 8 games.

NL PLayer of the Week: Sim 2

Monday, April 21st, 1980: There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Dave Kingman, the St. Louis third baseman, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the National Player of the Week honors.

Kingman piled up 9 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs while hitting .429.

Seattle outfielders dropping dead.

The injury bug has caught on to Seattle first as both the opening day CF Ken Landreaux went down for 2 months in Sim 1, and then his replacement, backup CF Cesar Geronimo, went down for a month in Sim 2. With the number of ML level OF wearing thin, Seattle was forced to pick up CF Rusty Torres off waivers, in hopes they'd win out, but as a backup to that plan offered a 1 year, $725k contract to LF Pat Kelly.

"Someone get a fire extinguisher in that OF, because they are on fire, and not in a good way," said a Mariners radio caller in last Sunday's post game show.

Opening Day in the BCHBL!

The dawn of a new league really begins today with the first regular season's games just starting. The first overall game in the BCHBL will go down in history as a Braves win over the Reds:

The fire is burning brightly in the eyes of each GM to capture the pennant and take a shot at getting your name engraved in the trophy of all trophies.
