Opening Day 2009...

... is just 27 hours from now.

Spring Training in full swing.

Spring training games will finish up with the sim this (Monday) evening, (after 5PM PDT/8 PM EDT). Opening day is Thursday evening (after 5PM PDT/8 PM EDT).

IF you sign or trade for players or you sent guys to your DFA roster in the last sim, you MUST move the players off the DFA roster and export this sim OR you could lose the player to release from the OOTP 9 engine AND you WILL be on the hook for the players complete contracted salary. Then export and check here to make sure your team is BOLD.

Full Squad workouts start today.

With the rest of the position players joining pitchers and catchers in most BCBL spring training facilities yesterday, full squad workouts began this morning. The first spring training games will be played this Sunday.

Rockies and Phillies make history

The first trade in league history went down yesterday as Colorado sent SP Josh Beckett and MR Jesse Carlson (AAA) to Philadelphia for SP Brandon Webb. The Rockies GM, Jeremy Shirley, has made his effort to decrease the fly balls in the thin, Rocky Mountain air clear.

Many BCBL baseball analyst agree that the caliber of both pitchers is relatively the same, but that certainly does not diminish their status on either team or the league. In fact, many believe this deal represent trading an ace for an ace.

More trades are sure to come in the BCBL as teams jocky for position in 2009 and beyond. The Red Sox and Twins also have agreed to a trade that has been rumored to be ongoing for a few days, in that deal a small group of prospects will be going to Minnesota in exchange for SP Roy Halladay. And there still are some free agent big bats left who have yet to sign contracts just three weeks before full rosters are scheduled to report for spring training.

The march to Opening Day 2009 continues...
