Top Batter Named by IL-Division
Saturday, September 12th, 1981: Mark Brouhard of the Durham Bulls had a fine season this year and today he accepted the IL Best Hitter Award for 1981.

The 25-year-old left fielder put up a .357 average and a .418 on-base percentage, piling up 174 hits, 18 doubles, 3 triples, 22 home runs, 99 RBIs and 87 runs scored.
Pawtucket Pitcher Racks Up IL Best Pitcher Award
Friday, September 11th, 1981: The Pawtucket Red Sox have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Dennis Boyd, this year's IL-Division IL Best Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Boyd compiled a 18-5 record in 26 starts, tallied 118 strikeouts in 204.2 innings and recorded a 2.02 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .232 batting average against him.
